We can start watching about an hour before sunset (which is ideal for kids movie night), and the imagery is crisp and clear. With the Capsule products, you had to wait until dark to get a good image, and dark images (Stranger Things, for example) were always tough to see even well after sunset.
We use projectors to stream on our roof deck all summer and fall long, so we put on about 400-500 hours a year. Nebula does a great job with customer service when you run into issues, and the products are well made. Started with the Capsule, then upgraded to the Capsule Max, now an owner of the Cosmos Laser 4K. In my opinion, an ARCA mounting system should have been used.īeen using it for about 10 days now. Mounting to a tripod with the single screw means the projector has a lot of mass applying pressure to a small location. USB-C and Toslink (optical audio) would have been nice as well as a second HDMI for more permanent installations. I would love to have seen additional I/O included.

Manual controls let’s you fine tune if needed. Auto keystone and auto focus make setting up a breeze. All you need is a power source and flat surface and you have a theater. With built-in speakers, portability is awesome. Build materials and craftsmanship are indicative of a premium product. That said, here are some of my pros and cons. The new Nebula Capsule II pushes a video resolution of 1280×720 (upgrade from 480p in the original), 200 ANSI ln brightness, 8w speaker with dual passive radiators, Bluetooth, WiFi, USB-C port in addition to HDMI and AUX, 10,000mAh battery, and Android TV (which means you can Cast to it too). Today, Anker announced the follow-up, called Nebula Capsule II, with some nice upgrades, including Android TV.
It was a projector first and foremost, but it also ran Android for streaming all of your favorite content and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Anker’s original Nebula Capsule was a pretty cool piece of technology, mostly because of what was packed into its little body.
